I'm planning to attend the Academy of Art University, but i'm stuck between two majors. I wanted to know what my chances of being employed in illustration are and what my chances of being employed in graphic design are.
Also, if i go into graphic design i would be interested in making Movie posters of CD covers, so if anyone knows of companies that specialize in these areas i would greatly appreciate it if you tell me.

I'm 16, and going to be 17 by the time I can hopefully get this idea running, but I am wondering how possible it is to create a graphic design/web design business for small-businesses and individuals in my city. Is it impossible for a teenager to pull this off? If it is possible, where do I start, meaning: how do I advertise, where to advertise, who to talk to and if I should charge money.

For health reasons, I need to find a job where I'm not sitting all day staring at a computer. I love the graphic design aspect of things but I am wondering if there's something else I can do with that training. I've looked into designing monuments, but that involves heavy lifting, which I can't do. I would love something that's more hands-on that uses technology/machines/equipment/tools and lets me move around a lot during the day. What do you think?

I already have a bachelors degree and I got a chance to get familiar with Photoshop/Image ready/Illustrator/Flash and I really liked it. I am not able to find a job in my own field (OMIS) and thinking to get a certification in Graphic Design field. Do you know if it is worth to spend 2-3 years and the money? I already have tried to get a job in the GD field as either an intern or a low entry level but no luck by now. Does the certificate help?

I'm applying to art schools and I've done some stuff with graphic design and I have no idea what to put in my portfolio. I've done things on illustrator, foundation drawings done from observation & still-life, things I did last year in my AP art class, black and white ink drawings done for "basic graphic design" class. I have no idea what to use. Anyone that's applied as a Graphic Design major before know what they used in their portfolio? I'm thinking about RISD, Pratt, and Syracuse if that has any relevance.

I really want to major in , but I keep hearing how hard it is to find a job with all the competition there is. I'm going to take AP Design and Commercial Art in school this year. I'm not so great with computers, but I've been practicing with a tablet and photoshop and improving. Should I continue to pursue Graphic Design, or go for a more stable major?
